400 crew and 900 passengers on board.
Crew rotate at the end of a cruise depending on their contact. The nurse, who I got to know a little too well, works ten weeks on and then ten weeks off. When she works she works seven days a week. Other staff tend to work a cruise on then have a cruise off.
The crew all sleep in the lowest cabins on the lowest decks which the elevators don’t go to.
The crews all seem very happy and continually joke amongst themselves.
If you ask most of the crew about the local town they normally don’t even know where they are and have never been ashore at that spot. One crew said she never leaves the ship because she doesn’t have any warm clothes. Another said she doesn’t have any warm shoes.
